WhatsApp Broadcast Tracking Guide

What can broadcast link tracking tell you?

It shows visits to links shared in a broadcast. It does not automatically reveal message delivery, read receipts, private chat content, or whether a visitor bought something. Those require separate, appropriate records.

Create a campaign naming system

Name each link by offer, audience group, and date. For example, october-catalogue-repeat-buyers is easier to compare than link-7. Use one link per broadcast variant and avoid unnecessary recipient-level identifiers.

Run a controlled comparison

Add UTM tags for your website

When the link opens your website, use a source such as whatsapp, a medium such as messaging, and a campaign name. Website analytics can then connect landing-page visits to on-site events where tracking is configured. Preserve the query parameters when changing destinations.

Watch for attribution limits

Forwarded messages, repeat visits, privacy settings, and missing referrers can affect interpretation. Do not assume every visitor came directly from the original broadcast. Use aggregate trends and compare equivalent periods.

Turn reports into decisions

Improve a message if it attracts visits but few leads. Check the landing page and response process if leads do not turn into orders. Calculate cost per captured lead using actual campaign cost divided by captured leads, and handle zero leads as an undefined result rather than claiming a positive return.
