How a WhatsApp click-to-chat link works

WhatsApp's click-to-chat format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full phone number (country code, no plus sign, no spaces). Adding ?text= fills in the first message. The customer only has to press send.

Example: a bakery in Chennai with the number 98765 43210 gets https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20to%20order.

Example abroad: a Dubai salon with +971 50 123 4567 gets https://wa.me/971501234567.

What is the difference between a direct link and a tracked link?

A direct wa.me link opens WhatsApp straight away and nobody can count the clicks. A tracked LinkTrack link opens the same chat but first records the click (time, device, approximate city and state, campaign), so you can see which post, ad or poster brought the visit.

Does tracking show WhatsApp messages or sales?

No. LinkTrack counts clicks on the link. It cannot see whether a message was sent, what was written or whether the customer bought something.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business and international numbers?

Yes. The link opens whichever WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business account uses that number. Pick the country code from the list — India, the Gulf countries, the US, UK, Singapore and more.
