Fill in the starred fields to build your link.
UTM parameters explained
Parameter — Answers — Example
utm_source — Which site or app? — instagram, google, whatsapp
utm_medium — What type of traffic? — social, cpc, email, broadcast
utm_campaign — Which campaign? — diwali-sale-2026
utm_content — Which ad or link? — reel-1, banner-top
utm_term — Which keyword? — saree online
A naming system that keeps reports clean
- Decide your source and medium names once and share them with your team (for example: always whatsapp / broadcast, never WA / bulk).
- Put the date or season in the campaign name: pongal-2026, nov-week2.
- Use utm_content for creatives — reel-1 vs reel-2 shows which video worked.
- Never tag links between pages of your own website; it overwrites the real source of the visit.
Example
An Instagram story for a Diwali offer: source instagram, medium story, campaign diwali-sale-2026, content story-1 gives https://yourshop.in/offer?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=story&utm_campaign=diwali-sale-2026&utm_content=story-1.
Go beyond Google Analytics
UTM tags only report visits that reach your website and load your analytics code. A tracked LinkTrack link counts the click itself, including on links to WhatsApp, Amazon or marketplaces where you can't add analytics. Free accounts show clicks by campaign, device and approximate city and state.
